Permanent Magnet Used for Recycling Printer Cartridge

Recycle printer cartridges
Currently, only about 15% of the 250 million inks used in Western Europe and 25% of the 40 million toner cartridges are recycled. Most landfills eventually happen, which may take more than a thousand years to decompose, and it also poses a threat to groundwater pollution. Post-consumer disposal requires specialized knowledge because toner and printer toner cartridges are classified as hazardous materials. This is due to the explosion hazard caused by the smaller toner dust.

Cartridge recycling process
After receiving the used laser and toner cartridge, BCMY will determine whether the item can be reused or needs to be recycled. Approximately 62% of all cassettes received are reused, although the number of poor quality copies and compatible products (approximately 15%) from the Far East continues to increase, and the increase in remanufactured cassettes (approximately 20%) means quantity Increasing. Follow the path of internal recycling.

Despite intensified competition from the Far East, the global demand for certain original empty ink cartridges is still high. However, the overall percentage of recycled reusable ink cartridges is declining. Manufacturers of high-capacity toner cartridges have limited disposal options, introduced stricter waste regulations, and reduced the industry’s ability to dispose of non-reusable toner cartridges. Landfills are no longer a legal choice for mass producers. Because of the high calorific value of toner cartridges, landfills in power plants have become people’s first choice. However, this option also has environmental impact.

In factories in the UK, BCMY specializes in the physical recycling of non-reusable ink cartridges. Remove harmful carbon dust, leaving hard plastic and metal mixed together. The empty bullet shells are fed into a slow-speed shredder to reduce the size and release, and then enter the solid bunting drum magnets along the inclined conveyor belt. Drum magnets can separate all magnetic materials, such as steel parts, springs and other ferrous metals, and ceramic magnets. The cleaned plastic fraction is further shredded for further release, and then passed through a vortex separator to separate non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum). The drum magnet has a fixed magnetic element located in a rotating stainless steel housing. The magnetic element is made of high-strength permanent neodymium neodymium magnets. Drum magnets (diameter 300mm-12 inches, width 300mm-12 inches) are installed in a closed dust box and are driven by a motor directly mounted on the shaft.

The material is transported to the drum magnet’s hopper on an inclined conveyor, and then stacked down onto the rotating shell. A strong magnetic field attracts and holds magnetic materials, bringing them under and out of the field, causing them to fall into a separate container. Plastic non-magnetic materials are not affected by the magnetic field and follow the normal trajectory into a separate collection box.

The metal content in each ink cartridge is about 42%, which is then sold as a final product. Recycled plastics composed of (PS, ABS, PET, PP, POM and HDPE) are also resold to a variety of applications including plastic wood production. Harmful carbon powder is used as a colorant in plastic manufacturing, and as a filler in tarmac and marine paint.
